My name is Kelly or Kellebelle to some! I’m 22 years old and living in Dublin, Ireland at the moment. I’ve just graduated from university with a BA in Journalism so out in the ‘real’ world now working as a freelance broadcast assistant for some radio stations. I absolutely love working in media!

I love art, fashion, dancing, writing, photography, animals, movies, music and blogging of course. You can find my blog ‘Blink And You’ll Miss‘ at http://kellebelle.wordpress.com I update it a lot, with ramblings about shopping, photography, art and anything else that comes to mind.

Interview

Q: Welcome to Speakbindas. Tell us since when blogging has been a part of your life? Was there any motive or inspiration as a backbone of it?

  • A: I initially started blogging when I was in second year of college in 2008. I had to as part of my online journalism module – in other words it wasn’t my choice. We had to keep a blog for the entire second semester and blog solely on the online world of journalism and media. When semester two ended I stopped blogging for a while but then found I actually missed it. I’ve always loved writing so I resurrected my blog, gave it a new look and new title – it went from ‘Online Journalism’ to ‘Blink And You’ll Miss’.

Q: What is your blog all about? Which topics you cover there? Is that you alone running/maintaining the blog, or have a team?

  • A: I tend to go through phases in my blog. One month I will have an obsession with illustration and have lots of posts on this. I love blogging about fashion, photography, music, TV and anything else that inspires me. I haven’t set out to have a particular theme or set of topics I cover – but fashion seems to be the topic I cover most, particularly online shopping. ‘Blink And You’ll Miss’ is just run by me.

Q.: How important is it for the blogger to interact with their readers? Do you respond to all the comments that you receive?

  • A: I think interaction is a very important aspect of blogging. I try respond to all my comments and also comment on other people’s blogs. Interaction is what makes online media different from print media – so we should take full advantage of this fact. Plus it’s more fun!

Q: What are the present statistics for your blog, i.e. number of daily visitors, visitors geographical status etc.?

  • A: I currently have had over 6,000 visitors to my site. 250 was my busiest day but on average I have between 60 and 150 hits.

Q: Is blogging for you just a passion or a medium for earning too? Does it help you to earn enough cash to quit a 9 to 5 day job?

  • A: At the moment blogging is a hobby. In the future it would be great if it brought in some money – after all isn’t it the ideal situation to be paid to do what you love? Right now I’m happy to just blog for fun.

Q: Who are your favorite bloggers, whom you read frequently?

A:  I have quite a few favorite bloggers but here at my top 10:

1. chicknamedhermia.wordpress.com

2. newyorkchique.blogspot.com

3. thebubbleboy.blogspot.com

4. missleahyeung.wordpress.com

5. stellarmagazine.wordpress.com

6. dmcg.wordpress.com

7. missannakay.wordpress.com/

8. leblogdebetty.com

9. yeahnewyork.wordpress.com

10. http://www.tavi-thenewgirlintown.blogspot.com/

Q: From the secret bucket of your blogging experiences, what tips you would like to share with the fellow bloggers?

  • A: Blog about things that interest and inspire you – don’t try and blog about what you think people want to read about. The most important thing is to be yourself.

Q: Do you believe that blogging completes you? If yes, tell us how?

  • A: Blogging is something I really enjoy. I don’t know would I go so far as to say it ‘completes me’. I don’t think anything necessarily ‘completes’ people, more that it is an extension of self or an outlet. Blogging is my creative outlet, much like photography and drawing – it is who I am.

Q: What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?

  • A: I like to focus on the positives! My happiest moments are when I’m with my friends or in work doing something I love.

Q: Say, you are sponsored to travel to 3 world destinations, where you need not to worry about costs for food, hotel or anything. Which destinations would you pick up, and why? Would you like to take someone along with you? If yes, whom?

  • A: I would love to go to Australia – it seems to be a right of passage these days! I’d love to go back to America and see New York – I think Sex and the City has fuelled my love for the city. And my third destination would be Moscow in Russia – it is such a beautiful city, full of culture and I love nothing more than wrapping up in warm layers.
  • And of course I’d like to take someone with me, travelling is always best with friends.

  • A: It makes life both simple and complicated depending on how you look at it! Like everything there are pros and cons…

Q: Any special message you would like to share with your blog readers as well with everyone else?

  • A: The most important thing is happiness – so do what makes you happy.
