Understanding NEET

Most of the students preparing for NEET think scoring in Biology is easy, yet they end up scoring between 210 and 240 in the exam. If you belong to the general category, then qualifying the exam becomes challenging as you need to score above 540 to get admission into government medical colleges.

For obtaining such a good score, it is essential that you score more than 300 in Biology. Scoring Above 300 in Biology for NEET

Biology syllabus for NEET can be broadly divided into two parts, Factual Biology, and Conceptual Biology. Both of these parts need to be approached differently during the exam.

Part 1: Conceptual Biology

  • Includes topics such as cell division and cell cycle, Biomolecules, human physiology, plant physiology, ecology and biotechnology, evolution and genetics, and mechanisms of evolution.
  • There are a total of 26 chapters that are covered under Conceptual Biology.
  • Based on the previous years’ paper, you can expect a total of 62 questions out of 100 from this part.
  • It is recommended that you read the NCERT book only for once for getting the basics right.

Part 2: Factual biology

  • It covers a total of 12 chapters including topics such as structural organization in animals and plants, diversity in the living world, cell – unit of life, strategies for enhancement in microbes and food production in human welfare, human health, and disease (excluding the immunity portion), and evolution.
  • Based on the data of the last 10 years, you can expect a total of 28 questions from this portion.
  • The questions asked under this section are fact-based and asked directly from the NCERT book.
  • Although most of the questions are direct and easy to answer, it is recommended that the students don’t keep these topics for last-minute preparation.
