Interview
Q1: Welcome to Speakbindas. Tell us since when blogging has been a part of your life? Was there any motive or inspiration as a backbone of it?
- A1: I started blogging 3 months ago as part of an idea I had to research physical appearance. I realized blogging was the best way to communicate my 365 day project in segments.
Q2: What is your blog all about? Which topics you cover there? Is that you alone running/maintaining the blog, or have a team?
- A2: The Pretty Project is a blog covering beauty regimen and the responses you get from others around you as a result of participating in those regimen. I run The Pretty Project alone and will have to in order to keep my identity a secret.
Q3: What are the present statistics for your blog, i.e. number of daily visitors, visitors geographical status etc.?
- A3: I have roughly 200 unique visitors a day and 500+ daily page views. Most of my visitors seem to be from the States but I have had several readers respond from India, the UK, Indonesia, and South Africa.
Q4: Is blogging for you just a passion or a medium for earning too? Does it help you to earn enough cash to quit a 9 to 5 day job?
- A4: Blogging is simply a passion of mine and it doesn’t earn me a dime. In fact, this project has cost me nearly $2,000 to date. This money is spent on experimenting with different beauty treatments in order to gauge their effectiveness in garnering a reaction.
Q6: From the secret bucket of your blogging experiences, what tips you would like to share with the fellow bloggers?
- A6: Do it every week, even when you’re tired. Let the comments you get from readers motivate you to stay focused. Also, read other people’s posts and leave comments to people might track back to your site.
Q7: Do you believe that blogging completes you? If yes, tell us how?
- A7: I don’t know if it completes me, per say, but it does give me a creative outlet to express myself that I might not otherwise have. I think blogs offer would-be writers everywhere a chance to practice and hone their skills before they take a stab at writing professionally.
Q8: What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?
- A8: My happiest moment would be the day I graduated from college. It was a day that was filled with family, friends, and a sense of accomplishment.
- The gloomiest would probably be the day I had my heart broken. Nothing hurts the way a lost love does. It left me all alone in a big city and I felt utterly alone.
Q9: Say, you are sponsored to travel to 3 world destinations, where you need not to worry about costs for food, hotel or anything. Which destinations would you pick up, and why? Would you like to take someone along with you? If yes, whom?
- A9: I can’t say I’m a lover of travel but if I were to get this opportunity I would try and hit Australia, Paris, and Colorado.
Q10: Are you into watching movies? If yes, which fills your list of favorite ones?
- A10: I am a huge lover of movies. I’m not so much a fan of TV but I can watch movies all day long. Some of my favs are Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Harry Potter.
Q11: How has blogging helped you other than money?
- A11: It has helped me to focus on what I want to do with writing long-term. It’s also allowed me to meet many geographically disperse friends who have been every bit as supportive as some of my local friends.
Q12: What would be the one thing you’d change about yourself?
- A12: I’d probably want to lose the desire to please other people. I think this would be completely freeing and allow me to love every part of myself regardless of what others thought.
Q13: What is your deepest fear?
- A13: Hands down, my deepest fear is spiders.
Q14: If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
- A14: I would want to meet my Grandfather and just hear about his life.
Q15: Which is your favorite television show? Favorite songs?
- A15: My favorite television show right now is How I Met Your Mother. My favorite song would probably be anything by Linkin Park.
Q16: How much money do you have in your purse/wallet right now (including change)?
- A16: I’ve got an impressive $10.53. That’s a lot for someone who usually carries zero cash.
Q17: What is your favorite food? Any particular dislikes?
- A17: My favorite food would be a simple pepperoni Pizza. Favorite dishes would be any kind of Mexican Food.
Q18: What’s your take on the technological advancement these days? Does it make people’s life simple or complicated?
- A18: Technology definitely makes life easier. Hang on, I’m trying to type this but my cell is ringing and my laptop’s battery needs recharging.
Q20: Any special message you would like to share with your blog readers as well with everyone else?
- A20: Thank you so much for taking the time to read this interview and for stopping by my blog. To all my readers out there, you are the reason I continue to write The Pretty Project every day! I love you guys!
