Rihanna Slams Indiana’s Controversial RFRA

Rihanna joined a number of people to slam the controversial Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). The bill was amended to ensure it was less discriminatory towards the LGBT community. Nothing could stop the musician from throwing an expletive tirade before her scheduled performance of Live Your Life. She used some obscene words on an already charged crowd which repeated her words as a show of solidarity with her. The performance was live-streamed but it had to be censored before broadcast in an attempt to muffle the wordings.

Currently, the yet to be released album- American Oxygen is creating so many waves in the music industry even before its official release. It is a staple in the commercials and has been widely used to promote NCAA basketball tournaments for this year. She intoned the lyrics of the song during her performance for the March Madness Music Festivals held at White River State Park. Her recent singles like Bitch Better Have My Money, We Found Love, Diamonds and Rock Star 101 were some of the hits the crowd was treated to.

Rihanna is a Barbadian singer, actor and fashion designer who found her footing in the land of opportunity like so many other celebrities. Her career began after she met record producer Evan Rogers through mutual friend way back in 2003. Through his guidance, the then young lady recorded several demo tapes. These tapes were sent to a number of record labels which led to the signing of a contract with Def Jam Recordings. After auditioning for the then president Jay-Z who is also a hip-hop producer as well as rapper, Rihanna was accepted by the recording company.

She produced Music of the Sun in 2005 and A Girl Like Me in 2006 which stayed at the top ten of the US Billboard 200 for quite some time. Her widespread prominence was however in 2007 when she released her third album Good Girl Gone Bad and its sensational single Umbrella. The song stayed at the top of the US Billboard 200 and made Rihanna a household name. The collaboration of Umbrella was nominated for nine Grammy Awards for the best rap collaboration with her then boyfriend, Chris Brown. She has also had a brief stint at acting in Battleship.

Rihanna was born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on the 20th of February 1988 in Barbados to Monica Braithwaite and Ronald Fenty. She has two other boy siblings namely Rorrey and Rajad. There are two half sisters born to different mothers from Ronald’s previous relationships. She had a hectic childhood due to her father’s addiction to cocaine. Her parents divorced when she was barely 15.

Rihanna has had a series of love affairs with different men too. Her relationship with Chris Brown ended when the musician assaulted her in 2009 after a domestic brawl. Later on in 2013, she claimed they had patched up but this was watered down by Chris who said they had broken up once more. She has had affairs with baseball star Matt Kemp and Canadian rapper Drake.
