I am Aditya Marathe and I have been blogging since 5 years now. I enjoy traveling, photography, blogging, eating and interacting with a variety of people from different backgrounds.

Interview

Q: Welcome to Speakbindas. Tell us since when blogging has been a part of your life? Was there any motive or inspiration as a backbone of it?

  • Ans.: Been blogging since 5 years. I always enjoyed writing and started blogging as soon as this medium became popular and accessible. I love traveling and have been fortunate to get enough opportunities to do the same. With travel, I also enjoy photography and blogging serves as one of the best ways to share the photographs and experiences with friends, family and everyone else.

Q: What is your blog all about? Which topics you cover there? Is that you alone running/maintaining the blog, or have a team?

  • Ans.: I maintain my own blog and it is more of a personal diary. Very rarely I write about general issues. Mostly it is about life, conversations, travel, food, and photography.

Q.: How important is it for the blogger to interact with their readers? Do you respond to all the comments that you receive?

  • Ans.: I do respond to all comments on my blog and I think it is very important for a blogger to interact with the readers. However, I would never stop writing even if nobody reads my blog!

Q: What are the present statistics for your blog, i.e. number of daily visitors, visitors geographical status etc.?

  • Ans.: I have about 50,000 hits since I kept keeping a count, and it comes down to a little more than 50 hits per day. Most of my visitors are from India, US or from South Korea. I think, over a fairly large time frame, if you try to segment visitors by geography, it has very little to do with your content, and more to do with an overall number of internet users from that place.

Q: Is blogging for you just a passion or a medium for earning too? Does it help you to earn enough cash to quit a 9 to 5 day job?

  • Ans.: Blogging is purely a hobby, and I do not intend to earn anything from it.

Q: Who are your favorite bloggers, whom you read frequently?

  • Ans.: I have subscribed to a lot of blogs: personal blogs, technical blogs, photography blogs, comic strip blogs etc. I particularly make sure not to miss out Lifehacker, PhotographyBlog, Varna Sri Raman’s blog, Shilpa Bhatnagar’s blog, Chhavi Sachdev’s blog…

Q: From the secret bucket of your blogging experiences, what tips you would like to share with the fellow bloggers?

  • Ans.: If you write a blog for your love of writing, keep writing. Whether people read it or not, keep writing. Write it as a personal diary. Maintain it and after a few years you would be happy and proud to go through it.
  • Keep your blog simple. Use good themes and not very flashy ones. Use good English and ensure there are not many mistakes. Be consistent in your style of writing and also in your opinions.

Q: Do you believe that blogging completes you? If yes, tell us how?

  • Ans.: No.

Q: What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?

  • Ans.: I may not want to share.

Q: Say, you are sponsored to travel to 3 world destinations, where you need not to worry about costs for food, hotel or anything. Which destinations would you pick up, and why? Would you like to take someone along with you? If yes, whom?

Ans.:

  1. Istanbul – It has been on my to-visit lists for a very long time. It sits on the confluence of Asia and Europe and seems a very attractive destination for a travel loving person like me.
  2. Leh – I wish to visit Leh atleast once in my lifetime. It, in my opinion is the most beautiful piece of land on earth!
  3. Antarctica – I wish to visit Antarctica only to meet the Emperor Penguin!

Q: How has blogging helped you other than money?

  • Ans.: It has helped me in putting down my thoughts in a better manner. It has given me enough opportunity and freedom to write what I want and when I want. Reading older blog posts from my own blog reminds me of incidences, places, people and good and bad times. My blog has a life… It is like me, it is like my best friend. I hope you get it?

Q: Which is your favorite television show? Favorite songs?

  • Ans.: The Canon in D Major by Johann Pachelbel

Q: How much money do you have in your purse/wallet right now (including change)?

  • Ans.: Rs 900? Give and take a few

Q: What is your favorite food? Any particular dislikes?

  • Ans.: Ice cream!!

Q: What’s your take on the technological advancement these days? Does it make people’s life simple or complicated?

  • Ans.: Both, there is too much to talk on this.

Q: What do you think of “blogging is the next BIG thing”?

  • Ans.: Definitely No.

Q: Any special message you would like to share with your blog readers as well with everyone else?

  • Ans.: Love your blog.

  1. Thank you Aditya for participating. Some of your answers were really cool.

  2. Preeti Patel says:

Well, Devang, that’s true that some of his answers were cool. But some of were boring. I mean, why wouldn’t be expressive? Some of his short answers like “NO” “Ice creams (is that food?)” and “I may not want to share” were really boring. Aditya, don’t mind buddy, but when it’s about an interview, you shouldn’t act this way. It leaves with a negative impression on reader’s mind, at least it did so to me.

Devang, I have been following blogger interviews at SpeakBindas regularly. Hope, you won’t either take my comment in negative manner.

    Hello.
I love Ice Creams and I can survive on them 🙂 So that is a food for me…

The answers that I said “I do not want to share” I really did not want to answer them as they were very far from my blogging experiences or just that I did not find this the right place to share them, and I expected the editor will remove the questions before publishing. Those answers were for the publisher, not for the readers. And I do not know why my interview was taken in a negative manner. I just did not answer 2-3 questions.

Also, I DO NOT think blogging is the next big thing, because it has already become extremely big and saturated all over the world. There are many other things as per me that are coming up lately and must be looked forward to in the years to come 🙂

    Cheers.

    1. Hi Aditya,

I already removed some of the “not answered” questions, but felt to keep a few just to let readers know about it. Nothing negative about it. It was meant to be “AS IT IS”, though as an Editor I removed few.

I don’t think, your interview has taken any negative impression. So let’s just chill 🙂 Rather, your interview has been more interactive…
