5 Points to Keep in Mind While Registering for CAT 2018

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta has released the online application form for the Common Admission Test 2018. Candidates can fill the application form on the official website of CAT i.e. iimcat.ac.in. The registration will close on September 19, 2018 at 5pm. CAT 2018 will be held on November 25 in CBT mode in two sessions across 147 cities of India. The admit card of CAT 2018 is likely to be released one month before the examination i.e. in the last week of October. A list of 5 important points to keep in mind while filling the application form of CAT 2018 is provided in the article given below.

Points to remember

Preference of Cities – Candidates can select any four cities as per their preference for the CAT examination centre. One of the four centers will be allotted as per the availability. In case students don’t get the cities chosen by you, the examination authority will allocate you a nearby city.

Payment of Fees – Candidates can pay the registration fee only in the online mode through Debit, Credit Cards or Net Banking. Once paid, the application fee will not be refunded back. The application fee to apply for CAT 2018 is Rs. 1900 (Rs. 950 for SC, ST and PwD category candidates). Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD Category are required to upload a copy of their certificates at the time of registration.

Examination Pattern – The duration of CAT 2018 is 3 hours. The test paper will be divided into 3 sections of Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) and Quantitative Ability. As per the latest pattern of CAT, candidates will get at most 60 minutes for each section. Candidates can also go through the tutorial of the entrance test from October 17, 2018 to get a clear idea of the examination pattern.

Category – Candidates must be careful before applying for CAT 2018. Before filling the application form, students must ensure that they are applying for the correct category as there will be no change in category afterwards. Students are also required to submit the Category related proof at the time of registration.

Eligibility Criteria – Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university or equivalent with an aggregate of at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for CAT 2018. However, students who are final year of their graduation are also eligible to appear in the entrance examination.

Candidates who wish to apply for CAT 2018 must remember the points mentioned above while applying for the entrance examination. The result of the entrance test will be declared on the official website of CAT. Students need to apply for the management institutes and IIMs separately. Appearing in CAT 2018 doesn’t guarantee admission to IIMs and other management institutes as it totally depends on candidate’s performance in the entrance test.
