Thousands of people are affected in the devastated flood in Uttarakhand. People from all around INDIA were on the pilgrimage to Chardham – four sacred places. One of them is Kedarnath, which is almost destroyed by the flood. People on visit to Kedarnath were affected by flood heavily. Hundreds of lives are lost and thousands are still missing.

In such an arduous time, Google has launched Google Person Finder for 2013 Uttarakhand Floods, which does list the data of people who had been to pilgrimage and were affected. As on writing this article, this website is tracking 15600 records.


This is quite an appreciable and human approach by Google. Though it notes that On active Person Finder sites, all data entered is available to the public and usable by anyone. Google does not review or verify the accuracy of this data.
