About:

I am Debajyoti Das. I live at Salt Lake, Kolkata. I am currently into my 3rd Year of Engineering with Computer Science. I am a tech blogger @ snaphow.com. I am also going to launch my own personal blog very soon at debajyotidas.com. I am a web enthusiast and love sharing knowledge with everyone.

Q1: Welcome to Speakbindas. Tell us since when blogging has been a part of your life? Was there any motive or inspiration as a backbone of it?

A1: I never actually recall when I started blogging. Well it was 2 years back I got Internet Connection to my home PC and joined Orkut. Then I joined various Help group type of Communities there and started answering Tech, PC, Game etc related problems. Sometimes I got bored answering same things again and again so I thought of writing them down in a place like in a website. Then I searched Google and found the answer. It was to start a blog. I started 1 year back.

Q2: What is your blog all about? Which topics you cover there? Is that you alone running/maintaining the blog, or have a team?

A2: My Blog www.Snaphow.com is all about computing and the Internet. I basically like writing about the new Online Tools or Softwares or about the news that’s going viral in the blogosphere. Sometimes I also write about Adsense & Blogging etc.

Q3: What are the present statistics for your blog, i.e. number of daily visitors, visitors geographical status etc.?

A3: Well, I shifted recently from blogger to self hosted wordpress. So this shift hurt my rankings in search engines. I am gaining them back as Google indexes me slowly. Till I last checked I had an alexa ranking of 51,000 and PR3. I get around 1000 search visits per day which is increasing.

Q4: Is blogging for you just a passion or a medium for earning too? Does it help you to earn enough cash to quit a 9 to 5 day job?

A4: I never knew about Adsense & Stuff. But now that I know about them I have a plan to pursue blogging as a career after I finish my engineering. I am also into a Network Marketing Company which is also getting me some good money.

Q5: Who are your favorite bloggers, whom you read frequently?

A5: Amit Agrawal, Darren Rowse, Mashable & Lifehacker are my daily doses.

Q6: From the secret bucket of your blogging experiences, what tips you would like to share with the fellow bloggers?

A6: Google is very nice to Fresh and regularly updated blog content. Also Page Rank is a very important factor. Even Rubbish Content on a Good PR site can Rank better in Search. One Tip to blogger’s on Blogger – Shift to WordPress as Soon as You Can.

Q7: Do you believe that blogging completes you? If yes, tell us how?

A7: No, I am not a Blogaholic. I just like sharing knowledge and news with my readers.

Q8: What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?

A8: Related to Blogging? When I got my first Adsense Check. Well I never thought I would get paid for my hobby. Bad Day was when I lost page rank due to my shift from blogger to wordpress which hurt my traffic and income.

Q9: Say, you are sponsored to travel to 3 world destinations, where you need not to worry about costs for food, hotel or anything. Which destinations would you pick up, and why? Would you like to take someone along with you? If yes, whom?

A9: Till now I am single, so I would take my mother and father. I will go to Paris, Egypt & Las Vegas.

Q10: Are you into watching movies? If yes, which fills your list of favorite ones?

A10: I am fond of Hollywood Movies. I hate romantic movies. I liked The Matrix Series, The Pursuit of Happiness, Die hard 4, Eschaealon Conspiracy, Bruce Almighty. Mainly I like all the Good Tech Fiction Movies & Comedies.

Q11: How has blogging helped you other than money?

A11: Ya , My Language Skills have improved and definitely my typing speed. Apart from that the experience taught me a lot which are very valuable.

Q12: What would be the one thing you’d change about yourself?

A12: Ya, I would love to wake up much earlier in the morning.

Q13: What is your deepest fear?

A13: Not as Such.

Q14: If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be?

A14: Hitler, The Person who created the first operating system.

Q15: Which is your favorite television show? Favorite songs?

A15: So You Think you can Dance, America/Britain’s got Talent.

Q16: How much money do you have in your purse/wallet right now (including change)?

A16: About 1500/- . Why Ask?

Q17: What is your favorite food? Any particular dislikes?

A17: Chinese.

Q18: What’s your take on the technological advancement these days? Does it make people’s life simple or complicated?

A18: I have always been in support of technology. It does make things easier for people who can adapt to it.
