Speakbindas interviews techpp.com’s founder Raju

If we think normally, we believe that Tech bloggers should be the guys who just stick to their computer monitor screen (or laptop for that matter!) and are boring kinda people, who can not write the humorous way. Well, I don’t know Raju personally who runs a fine technology blog techpp.com, but through the answers that he produced for the interview, I felt that he is quite an easy going and full of fun guy. I just loved reading his answers, which are of course providing the asked information, but also has a special way of notation.

Read on interview and you decide, if I am right or wrong!

  • Heartily welcome to Speakbindas.com, Raju. Tell us what is techpp.com all about? And why the domain techpp.com?

Raju

  • First of all, thanks for inviting me. TechPP (aka Technically Personal) is a technology weblog which has articles on various technology topics like web apps, online tools, useful software, latest technology trends, browsers, tips & tutorials, Windows tweaks, Blogging tools, wordpress hacks, Online TV and many more.
  • When I started blogging (way back in 2004), it was all about random personal ramblings and during early 2008 my interests started tilting towards Technology & Internet. That explains the name Technically Personal. The domain name is rather amateurish, since “PP” is my nickname.

  • Your blog is truly receiving tremendous traffic that I can predict by looking at its Alexa stats, rank 28,557 (As on June 4, 2009) with 154 links. What are the traffic driving forces?

Raju

  • Uncle Google is the major force. He is the master!! But trust me, Alexa is not the right tool to gauge traffic.

Speakbindas

  • Are the revenues generated from techpp.com allow you to quit a 10 to 6 routine job and remain a full time blogger only?

Raju

  • Yes it does, but I won’t!

Speakbindas

  • What really motivates you to keep the blog regularly updated with useful and interesting information, tips, tricks and articles? Does it require real hard work?

Raju

  • It requires a lot of hard work. There are times when I become lethargic and it immediately reflects in my traffic and earnings. For more than 4 years I blogged without even knowing that one can monetize the blogs. So it was just the passion for blogging initially. But now, money does motivate me to be honest.

Speakbindas

  • Where you from? Tell us something about the city you live in?

Raju

  • I am born and brought up in Bangalore, the technology / IT hub of India. No wonder I was dragged onto them. There is a certain advantage of being brought up in Bangalore. The city is a nice mix of culture, fun and technology.

Speakbindas

  • I love asking this question to every successful blogger I interview and is that, are you popular in your personal circle of friends and families as a blogger? Are they really aware about your HIT blog?

Raju

  • Yes and NO! They are aware of my blogging and the passion for it, but most of them are unaware of its success! That is also because I prefer it to be that way.

Speakbindas

  • Which is your favorite topic to blog on? Any particular post that give you a boosting startup or traffic in the intial days of blogging?

Raju

  • I love writing list posts and tutorials. Be it WordPress or Windows or Web applications. The post “27 Stunning Yet Free Premium WordPress Magazine & News Themes” (http://techpp.com/2009/02/19/27-stunning-yet-free-premium-wordpress-magazine-news-themes/) got huge traffic in those days, but I can’t point  to any one post for traffic boost.

Speakbindas

  • What tips you would like to give to struggling bloggers, who fail to generate enough traffic?

Raju

  • Keep experimenting.  Never stick on to any one thing, especially if its not working well for you.
  • Do not try to imitate successful bloggers, but at the same time try to learn how did they reach that level.
  • Content is the king, so keep writing good stuff.
  • Learn basics of SEO. You HAVE to impress Google if you want traffic.

Speakbindas

  • Apart from blogging, what completes you? Your favorite sports?

Raju

  • I love being with family and friends. I socialize a lot. But still many term me as “Web Addict”! I am a sports buff, so any sport will do! But yeah, I love cricket more than anything else.

Speakbindas

  • What image you have in your personal life circle of friends and families? A cool guy, intellegent, moody or other?

Raju

  • Funny and easy going!

Speakbindas

  • Which is your favorite food? Any disliking to particular dishes?

Raju

  • I love Dosas and most of the Indian cuisine. A pure vegetarian by birth and by choice. No dislikes to any particular veggie dish.

Speakbindas

  • What would be one thing that you would like to change in yourself?

Raju

  • My Laziness.

Speakbindas

  • Any special message you would like to share with techpp.com’s readers and visitors?

Raju

  • ahhh… I love you guys. I owe a lot to you. TechPP is what it is because of you and it has a long way to go from now. So please do keep encouraging and coming back.
