Excerpt of the interview

Idea behind this interview was to get information about various skin diseases that are observed in the region of Saurashtra and overall Gujarat, and also to find out the causes behind it and treatments that should be done. Dr. Chetan Lalseta being a reknowned dermatologist in Rajkot has given in-depth information on these topics.

He mentions that region of Saurashtra is having a long coastal area and as some skin diseases are based on the surrounding atmosphere, one of which is fungal infection. There was a time when fungal infection used to occur to some particular people who were careless about hygiene. But these days, it is observed even in families which are keen about hygiene. Fungal infection is being observed widely these days throughout the year unlike earlier times when it used to occur more in the season of monsoon. Doctor also discusses about various reasons for why it happens and also suggests treatment for the same. Notably, Dr. Lalseta suggests not to use ointments which has steroid in it. It may increase the issue.

Other than Fungal Infection, Dr. Lalseta gave brief information on various diseases like Leucoderma, Psoriasis, Eczema, Herpes, Viral infection, Bacterial infection, Chickenpox, Herpes zoster, Acne etc.

One of the most important things that he mentioned is that not all skin diseases are infectious, i.e. not all skin diseases can be transmitted through touch. There are several reasons for a skin disease to occur like weak immune system, weather, hereditary etc.

Cosmetology is now booming and helps patients to fulfill a portion of the gap that the nature has created in terms of physical beauty. It may be related to hair issue or skin issue. Depending upon various conditions and after thorough diagnosis of particular patient, one can have a better beauty with the help of cosmetology. Although, not every girl/woman can become Aishwarya Rai or Emma Stone or likewise a boy/man can become Hrithik Roshan or Brad Pitt, but can have a better persona after consultation with the doctor.

Dr. Chetan Lalseta is also associated with the Rajkot Dermatologist Association as President for past five years and served as Secretary in 2013 of Indian Medical Association of Rajkot and is elect President for the same in 2019.
