Uttoran Sen with his online earning’s check

Hi, my name is Uttoran Sen, a 23 year old guy from Ranchi, Jharkhand. I’m a professional blogger and a webmaster since 2005, dropped college in 2007 and lived happily ever after. I like reading books, sleeping late in the morning, driving my car, riding my bike and going on long drives with friends and family.

I also love watching TV, eating junk food and exercise in gym. All this of course comes second on my priority list, as am online for 15+ hours on a regular day working on my sites and blog. I own and manage many websites and blog, to know more about me please check out my Technology Blog(http://technascent.com/) or my service website(http://biz2.in/) or my in detail about us page.

Interview

Q: Welcome to Speakbindas. Tell us since when blogging has been a part of your life? Was there any motive or inspiration as a backbone of it?

  • Ans.: The only skill that I ever had was writing, whether it was my English homework essay, or a letter to the newspaper or local government offices for not doing work, I enjoyed everything that I wrote. I was never a great writer, I don’t claim it either, but I enjoy writing and always had that interest of being heard through my writing. Ages back, perhaps in 2004 or so, I got into geocities, blogger etc. platforms where I could write and reach the masses online. Soon enough I knew about how to make money from blogging, something that I had so much interest in. However, those blogs and websites were not really something like the ones that I currently have, tech nascent and others are more personal and professional looking at the same time and is more regularly updated. So, I would say that somewhere in late 2007 I really become a regular blogger.

Q: What is your blog all about? Which topics you cover there? Is that you alone running/maintaining the blog, or have a team?

  • Ans.: I have multiple blogs on various topics but my main blog is Tech Nascent which is mainly a tech blog, and covers tech, blogging tips, web2.0, social media type of topics. I alone maintain my blogs, I have a team though which is for my services that I provide, I love to run my blogs in my own way so I alone have sole access to my blogs.

Q.: How important is it for the blogger to interact with their readers? Do you respond to all the comments that you receive?

  • Ans.: Comments is the only way to setup a community on a blog and I love every comment that I get. Yes I respond to every comment that I get, I love to welcome my commentators, I like to give them back as much as I can, I have the comment love plugin, the top commentator widget etc. In short, I love an actively commenting community.

Q: What are the present statistics for your blog, i.e. number of daily visitors, visitors geographical status etc.?

  • Ans.: Tech nascent gets about 200 to 250+ visitors every day, mostly from search engines, it is improving everyday and am seeing referral traffic from different blogs and social media websites these days. The visitors are spread out and they cover every country, however the largest part that comes from search engines is from USA. However I would love to refer you guys to one of my more active blog where I have recently posted traffic stats – Open Article Submission Traffic Stats.

Q: Is blogging for you just a passion or a medium for earning too? Does it help you to earn enough cash to quit a 9 to 5 day job?

  • Ans.: Yes its passion primarily, because I would have still blogged if it did not made me money, but fortunately it does make me money. I was never the most brilliant student ever, rather it would have surprised me if I had managed a good 9 to 5 job, though, even if it did I would have quit, sooner rather than later, I hate doing a job, sorry just a personal opinion, not saying doing job is bad. I however did my hardware and networking diploma after I completed my school in 2004 and had already started working as a networking expert in the local area. I had plans to setup my own hardware networking service office and stuff, but I got into blogging and other internet business so quit that off line business plans. I preferred the blogging business and here are some income statements that I had posted some time back – May 10, 2009 – October 7, 2008 -, will post the November income report on Tech Nascent soon.

Q: Who are your favorite bloggers, whom you read frequently?

  • Ans.: Loads actually, labnol, mashable, gizmodo/engadget, chris prillo [spelling? :P], Shoemoney/johnchow… also, I read every blog that is on my top commentators list or that comments on my posts, I really love to see those blog 20 times a day so that I don’t miss out on any of their latest posts.

Q: From the secret bucket of your blogging experiences, what tips you would like to share with the fellow bloggers?

  • Ans.: For all the new bloggers I would say that making money is not easy and requires a very tough input first before you make a penny out of your blog, so just keep working hard without thinking too much about the outcome. For a successful blog all you need is content, lots of articles, and back links. So post as much as you can and link out as much as you want to, it’s your blog, have fun with it. Remember there is no alternative to hard work, you have to go through it all, good social media profiles, quality content, comment as much as you can, do seo on your blog and make it seo friendly, welcome every link you get on your blog and most of all try to build a good community on your blog.

Q: Do you believe that blogging completes you? If yes, tell us how?

  • Ans.: Humm… it does make me happy, makes me feel good that am heard and that I can put up my opinion as and when I want to. It makes me money, get me friends and allows me to connect to my friends in a better and easier way, it allows to help spread my knowledge and also learn new things, it is my hobby and my job, my best time pass is blogging… looks like blogging really completes me.

Q: What was the happiest and gloomiest moment of your life?

  • Ans.: Am always happy, though I would say that when I passed my 10th, my mom though I would fail lol, or perhaps when I got my bike, I would have never expected my dad to buy me a bike when I was in 11th but I got, or perhaps when I got my computer, or later when I dropped collage or started blogging, maybe when I bought my car a few months back… or my laptop just a few days back ๐Ÿ˜€ Lots of happy moments I guess, but I will not comment on the gloomiest day of my life, but yes I have one.

Q: Say, you are sponsored to travel to 3 world destinations, where you need not to worry about costs for food, hotel or anything. Which destinations would you pick up, and why? Would you like to take someone along with you? If yes, whom?

  • Ans.: I don’t like to travel much, but my mom and dad likes to visit new places so would definitely like to take them with me. 3 places let me see… Malaysia would be first, love that place. Next should be the Venice, its good, very good indeed. And lastly would like to go to Andaman, went there once and it was good, would like to make a return trip if possible.

Q: Are you into watching movies? If yes, which fills your list of favorite ones?

  • Ans.: harry potter series, have read all 7 books and now waiting for the last part of the harry potter film series, “the deathly hallows”. Matrix, Terminator series, the rocky and Rambo series, predator, star wars and the star trek, the sci-fi serials converted to films, there are loads of such films and I love them all.

Q: How has blogging helped you other than money?

  • Ans.: A very good question, blogging made me better in many ways; it made me a better person. Am more honest now, I work hard, am a perfectionist in what I do, I manage my time better, always try to help people. Blogging has taught me a lot and am thankful to the blogosphere for it.

Q: What would be the one thing you’d change about yourself?

  • Ans.: I wish I wasn’t shy enough, off line, that part of me I want to change. I haven’t went to any blog/seo meets etc. only because am too shy to do that, I haven’t met any bloggers off line… I wish I could just be a bit less shy off line ๐Ÿ˜›

Q: What is your deepest fear?

  • Ans.: Ha Ha, no fear at all, this one I can say with a broad chest, I fear nothing. Seriously ๐Ÿ˜€

Q: If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be?

  • Ans.: Yes, someone, but prefer not to answer it.

Q: Which is your favorite television show? Favorite songs?

  • Ans.: The star trek is my favorite, it was shown once a week on star world some time back and I had watched every single episode, other than that, “whos line is it anyway” very funny those guys are. I like all those serials shown in the Disney channel etc. including the cartoons, like Hanna Montana, sweet life on deck, ben10, the superman/spiderman, justice league, wizards of Beverly place, I dream of jineey being currently shown in zee cafรฉ, bewitched, silver spoon, different strokes… there are loads. I like the discovery/national geographic shows too like the man vs. wild etc. and a program in bbc world, click. Looks like I watch a lot of Tv too.

Q: How much money do you have in your purse/wallet right now (including change)?

  • Ans.: I have loads in paypal ๐Ÿ˜€ if that counts as a digital purse, but in the offline purse I keep very less, less than 1000 Rs for sure and don’t keep coins with me at all.

Q: What is your favorite food? Any particular dislikes?

  • Ans.: Yeah I like to eat a lot, most of that stuff that my mom cooks for me, including biriyani, butter chicken, chilly chicken, rajma and the regulars etc. I eat a lot, frequent restaurants very often and eat all sorts of food they keep, like the veg/malai kofta, the butter nan/kulcha etc. the veg/chicken biryani, the junk foods like samosha, golgappa, chowmin… I eat them all, all are my favorites.

Q: What’s your take on the technological advancement these days? Does it make people’s life simple or complicated?

  • Ans.: It’s how people take the developments, I mean kids these days are glued to the computers and Tv. Which would hurt their eyes in the long run and most of all children should go out in the sun and play, otherwise their health will take a serious blow. Same goes for adults, with improper sitting postures they could hurt their backbone too. There are so many rays and waves, the cell phone, the wireless… all these are so unhealthy and it is effecting everyone. While the bad things can’t be ignored, there are too many good things as well. The internet brings a wealth of knowledge, just look up anything you want to know, or want to see and hear your best songs. Connecting is so easy, I can see and talk to my friends, cousins and other relatives, or find out a friend whom I had almost contact for ages. Technology has both sides, but pluses are certainly more than the negatives and in more ways than not technology has made life simple.

Q: What do you think of “blogging is the next BIG thing”?

  • Ans.: Well, blogging is already a very big thing, its popular and everyone these days blogs. But with twitter, facebook etc. getting more popular by the day I think it should be fair to say that micro blogging is perhaps the next big thing, most people in the future will like to post short posts with latest updates and post more frequently.

Q: Any special message you would like to share with your blog readers as well with everyone else?

  • Ans.: All I would like to say is, thank you guys for sticking with me, I know sometimes I don’t post for long times, post not so exciting stuff at times, but still you all have keep reading my blogs, am very much thankful to you guys.
