Techie interview: Madhur Kapoor from Whoismadhur.com

Madhur Kapoor is a 23 year old Computer Engineer from Lucknow, India. He has a great passion for Computers, Internet and Web Technologies. He also loves programming and can program in quite a few languages including C, C++, Java, C#, PHP. He is also a Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP). Apart from Blogging & Programming, he is ardent supporter of Manchester United and loves watching Football. His other hobbies include watching movies, playing Computer Games, listening to music. Speakbindas: Hi Madhur, welcome to Speakbindas.com. Tell us about you, city you live in, age and your education.
Madhur Kapoor: Hi, I am a 23 year old Computer Engineer from Lucknow. I completed my Engineering in 2008 from Jaypee University of Information Technology, Solan. I am a bit of an introvert but I also like to hang out with friends, watch movies etc.

Speakbindas: Tell us Madhur, what is whoismadhur.com all about? Which are the areas you cover at this blog?
Madhur Kapoor: Whoismadhur.com is all about Technology and Software Reviews. Whoismadhur.com started mainly as a personal blog but ever since I got serious about blogging, i have focused mainly on Software that can help a normal user in accomplishing a task. I also write about Web Services, Tutorials, Gadgets, Firefox Extensions.

Speakbindas: According to you, what skills are required to become a successful tech-blogger?
Madhur Kapoor: One should be really passionate about Technology if he wants be a successful tech blogger. Apart from that, he should be able to express himself in words that can be easily understood by a newbie as well as professional. Time Management is also very important. One should be consistent in maintain his blog and writing articles.

Speakbindas: What are the statistics of whoismadhur.com? i.e. number of daily visitors and their geographical presence etc.?
Madhur Kapoor: Whoismadhur.com gets around 3-4k unique visitors daily. Most of the traffic comes from search engines. Looking at the stats, most of the users are from USA followed by India, Russia, Britain, Canada and Germany.

Speakbindas: Are the revenues earned from your blog enough to allow you to quit a 10 to 6 routine-chair-table job?
Madhur Kapoor: Currently i am making more money than i would earn as a fresher working for a company  but i have never thought about blogging as a profession. My aim is to become a good software developer. However, i might think about it later in life.

Speakbindas: How much hard work it takes to keep your blog updated with latest, useful and informative articles, tips and tricks?
Madhur Kapoor: If you are serious about blogging, then hard work and patience are very essential. Currently i spend 4-5 hours on my blog daily. This also includes the time in spend in reading other blogs and researching for articles and other freewares.

Speakbindas: Apart from blogging, what fills your list of ‘I’m passionate about’.?
Madhur Kapoor: I am passionate about Gaming, Programming and Football. I play a lot of Video Games mostly on my Computer and PSP. My favourite game is Pro Evolution Soccer and i play it every day. Apart from that i also love to program and in enjoy learning programming languages. I can code in many popular languages including C, C++, C#, Java, Php etc. I am also a die hard fan of Manchester United and never try to miss a single match they play.

Speakbindas: If you are allowed to rate yourself from 1 to 10 for a ‘tech blogger’, what rating you would chose?
Madhur Kapoor: I think each blogger has some unique way of expressing themselves. If i have to rate myself, i would give myself 6 out of 10. There are still a lot of things in which i feel i can improve a lot.

Speakbindas: Are you a movie buff? Which are your favourites?
Madhur Kapoor: Yes I am also a movie buff and i enjoy watching movies and other TV Series. Some of my favourite movies include Shawshank Redemption, Die Hard series, Schindler’s List, Fight Club, Bourne Trilogy, Dark Knight, Godfather, all movies of Al Pacino etc.

Speakbindas: Any particular favorite dishes you like to eat?
Madhur Kapoor: Some of my favourite dishes are Paneer Butter Masala, Dum Aloo and Bhindi. In Non veg i enjoy Tandoori Chicken and Seekh Kabab.

Speakbindas: Any other tech blogger have inspired you? If yes, which are those?
Madhur Kapoor: There are lots of them who have inspired me. Some of them are Keith, Pavan, Saad Hamid, John TP, Rockstar Sid, PC, Abhishek to name a few.

Speakbindas: Any special message you would like to share with whoismadhur.com’s fans and readers?
Madhur Kapoor: I would like to thank all of them for all the support they have given me in my blogging journey. Without them, it would not have been possible at all. Keep Rocking….
